Good Intentions Pave the Way to...

In this case, not hell. I'm hoping that having my ideas put out there will motivate me to actually create more. I love being creative; even if by doing so I'm copying someone else's genius. I have so many things that I still want to do in my house [for those who don't know, we bought a foreclosure and have done extensive remodeling]. Firstly, I want to de-junk/de-clutter. My wonderful mom is coming over tomorrow to start helping me with this. You know how you always need someone else's input when it comes to getting rid of something. This will be great! Our house is very small [912 sq ft] and I have saved and collected far more than I actually need to feather this nest.  However, there is still plenty of wall space [hello gallery wall - LOVE] and plenty of clever ways of displaying all the things I love without my house looking like a hoarder lives here. I don't have a clear directive on this; just that I want my house to look more purposefully decorated and not like its current hodge-podge of well-loved items.
Next, on the project list is creating the nursery of my dreams for SlottinoBambino#1. I am 4 months pregnant right now, so this project must get moving. I have a glider, that a client of mine found at a rummage sale for $7! Amazing! This with the caveat that it needs a new cushion; its current one looks like something may have died on it. My mom has this wonderful sturdy white and goldenrod canvas-like fabric with a lattice print that I'm/we're planning on using [mom must help me with sewing/measuring projects]. I think this fabric will be what weaves [pun intended] my nursery colors together. The walls are already painted the same shade as my kitchen/living room; a lovely periwinkle. Blue enough for a boy, lavender enough for a girls. The trim and furniture will be white, and then I'll throw a little yellow throughout. Maybe a splash of gray too because I love it! I bought a dresser at St. Vinnie's for $30 that is the perfect height for a changing table. It has already been stripped and primed but must still get two coats of high gloss white on it. I'm thinking of doing either brushed nickel hardware or glass. My FIL is making the crib...I must remember to talk to him about what I'm thinking; simple high gloss white and as SMALL as we can possible make it. There is a round white shag rug at Target that I am lusting over to warm my feet in the middle of the night. Oh and I'm totally using one of the 20% off BedBath&Beyond coupons to buy a towel warmer. If baby and I are going to cuddle in the middle of the night, I can't think of much better that a warm blankie for both of us. And, of course, warm towels for after baby's baths.
